NSW Police Wall of Remembrance - A Civic Police Memorial by Globe

When Globe Memorial was approached to lead the redevelopment of the NSW Police Wall of Remembrance, we understood that we weren’t just being asked to build another structure – we were being trusted with something far greater. This was to be a new police memorial: a civic space of honour, memory and public safety reflection, built in place of a wall that had, for over 20 years, stood as a tribute to fallen officers across New South Wales.

First unveiled in 1999, the original tribute had suffered irreparable damage from sustained acts of vandalism — its restoration no longer possible. Its replacement wasn’t a question of construction; it was a matter of conscience, cultural responsibility, and emotional care. A place of remembrance – one that needed to feel solid, yet never cold; sacred, yet open. It had to carry weight, not just names. Globe Memorial was selected not simply for our proven expertise in large-scale civic works, but for our reputation in guiding sensitive public projects with care, collaboration, and enduring craft.

Globe Memorial oversaw every stage of this meaningful transformation – from carefully dismantling the original structure to designing, fabricating, and installing a renewed civic landmark. This wasn’t just the delivery of a police memorial; it was the quiet reconstruction of a space the community needed to trust again – a place that could once more hold remembrance with strength, stillness, and enduring grace.

In close partnership with the NSW Government, site custodians and police representatives, we crafted a new civic memorial design using materials chosen for their permanence and protection. Vandal-resistant stone was meticulously shaped and placed to restore dignity, while soft landscape elements and architectural lighting were woven into the setting to invite reflection across all seasons.

The new NSW Police Wall of Remembrance now rises – resolute, graceful, and enduring – as a sanctuary of stillness and solemnity within Sydney’s Domain. It has resumed its rightful place as a public site of collective reflection, where families, colleagues, and communities gather in calm remembrance to honour courage, mourn sacrifice, and preserve shared memory.

Since its completion, the site has been met with heartfelt gratitude and quiet admiration. Relatives of those commemorated have spoken of their appreciation for the reverent approach to each name’s restoration. At the same time, the broader policing community has found reassurance in the renewed integrity of the place itself.

This tribute continues to serve with dignity, not only as a testament to those lost in duty, but as a permanent expression of resilience, grace, and public care.
